SELECTION PROCESS
When completing a nomination ballot for hall of fame inductees, each Selection Panel member will rank candidates in the "people" category rom 1 to 10 based soley on how each meets induction criteria. A graduated scale will be used by which the nominee ranked first on the list will receive 10 points, the nominee ranked second - 9 points, and continuing in such a manner so that the nominee ranked tenth will receive 1 point. The panel members will each rank five moments and five events. A graduated scale will be used where a first place vote will be worth 5 points and a fifth place vote will be worth 1 point. There are 8 Selection Panel members plus a 9th ballot completed by the public. The candidates who receive the most points in each category will be inducted into the hall of fame.

Selection Panel
Public Vote: The general public will participate in the selection process. Each member of the public has the opportunity to make their own selection by clicking on the "Public Vote" link above. The accumulative vote of the general public shall be the equivalent to that of one Selection Panel member. The Selection Panel member will view the results of the public vote before completing their own ballots.
Beth Bragg: Columnist, Anchorage Daily News. Sports reporter, sports editor for Anchorage Daily News 1986-2004. Winner of multiple Associated Press Sports Editor Awards and Alaska Press Club Awards. Covered four Winter Olympics.
Dennis Egan: President, Alaska Juneau Communications. Sports Broadcaster. Former Mayor of Juneau.
Bob Eley, Panel Chair: Sports Editor, Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. Sportswriter/ sports editor for Fairbanks Daily News-Miner since 1979. Fairbanks City Council Member 1991-1995. Past Chair Yukon Quest Board of Directors. President, Fairbanks Community Process. Six-time Winner, NSSA Alaska Sportswriter of the Year. Winner, Spirit of the Equinox Award. Fairbanks Hockey Hall of Fame member.
Lew Freedman: Sportswriter, Chicago Tribune. Author of 21 books on Alaska, mostly sports-oriented. Sports reporter, sports columnist and sports editor for Anchorage Daily News for 17 years. Winner of over 200 journalism awards including multiple honors from Alaska Press Club, the Northwest Society for Professional Journalists, the Associated Press Sports Editors, the U.S. Basketball Writers and the Best Sports Stories series.
Mike Janecek: Longtime sports administrator, organizer and coach in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley.
Danny Martin: Sportswriter, Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. Former Anchorage Daily News sportswriter.
Steve Nerland: Owner, Sleep Comfort by Nerlands. President, Alliance for American Legion Baseball. Coach, Service High School Baseball. Board Member, UAA Seawolf Hall of Fame, Tournament Advisor, Alaska School Activities Association. Past President Anchorage Rotary Club, Past Chair Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.
