The Mountain West Conference women’s basketball coaches picked Boise State to finish last in preseason poll.
It’s obvious they didn’t know about freshman Keiahnna Engel of Anchorage.
The former Alaska Player of the Year made a difference on both sides of the ball in last night’s 65-46 victory over New Mexico – picked fourth.
Engel, of Dimond High fame, contributed 9 points, 5 steals and 5 rebounds.
Boise State is 10-6 overall after winning its first-ever MWC game.
Engel has started two of 16 games and she is averaging 4.6 points and 3.1 rebounds in 14 minutes per game.
She is second on the team with 20 steals.
