The University of Wisconsin finished third in the Big Ten preseason coaches’ poll, with junior midfielder Alev Kelter earning ‘player to watch’ honors.
Kelter was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection last year and helped the Badgers reach the NCAA Tournament.
She collected three goals and eight points to finish third on the team in scoring. She also ranked third on the team with 39 shots, including 20 on goal.
“Alev is a physical force in the midfield,” Wisconsin coach Paula Wilkins told the school’s website. “She will be looked upon to score some goals with her head, which is what she’s really good at, and be a dominate force in the midfield.”
Kelter, of Chugiak High fame, kicks off her season Friday against No. 1 Notre Dame.
