Eagle River’s Kelsey Griffin started at forward and played 20 minutes as the Connecticut Sun beat the New York Liberty 96-81 in tonight’s WNBA preseason opener.
The 6-foot-2 second-year player collected 9 points, 3 steals and 2 rebounds.
Griffin, of Chugiak High fame, started in place of injured starter Tina Charles.
Griffin is coming off a strong season in Israel, where she averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds in 18 games for Maccabi Ramat Hen.
