Neither rain, nor sleet – nor Salt Lake CC – could derail the winning streak of Alaska’s Dylan Baker.
The sophomore starter for Western Nevada College ran his record to 8-0 after throwing a one-hitter in a 1-0 victory in Carson City, Nev.
Baker, of Juneau fame, struck out 10 and faced only three batters above the minimum through 7 innings.
The game featured wind gusts up to 60 mph and blowing snow canceled the second game.
“It was a little windy, and it was blowing me pretty much everywhere. I just tried to throw strikes,” Baker told the Lahontan Valley News. “I knew we had to get the first win today or we wouldn’t have been into it for the second game.”
Baker wiggled out of a one on, one out jam in the seventh, striking out the final two batters to end the game.
The righty lowered his ERA to 0.21, having allowed just 1 earned run in 42.1 innings.
